Day 3 of 21 Days of No Complaining!

Greetings!

As I stopped by the event wall to send a message to you all, I noticed that a participant — Lana Chu — just shared one of the sections of a book that resonated deeply with me…listen to the pure COMMON SENSE of this message…

“Complaining is not to be confused with informing someone of a mistake or deficiency so that it can be put right. And to refrain from complaining doesn’t necessarily mean putting up with bad quality or behavior. There is no ego in telling the waiter your soup is cold and needs to be heated up—if you stick to the facts, which are always neutral. ‘How dare you serve me cold soup…?’ That’s complaining.”

State the facts please…

How I KNEW I HAD to share this quote with you is this: my message for you today has to do with “stating the facts.”

To the question, how do I give feedback?

STATE the facts (Lana’s boyfriend told her exactly this the other day as she shared at the event wall – I just ADORE confirmations and synchronicity!)

To the question, How do I handle a challenging situation?

RECEIVE the FACTS!!
YOU decide what to take into your world. ONLY YOU!
If you decide to ONLY accept the unadulterated facts of the situation or accept only those other perceptions and emotions that help you in moving forward, YOU will remain in control and accountable for your own reactions. Don’t accept the ones that keep you chained to the past or to the situation.

Very often the decision rests with choosing love or choosing fear.


OK, so here are the suggested activities for today:

1)   Practice today, as often as possible, a minimum of 3 times, STATING the FACTS

2)   Do the same for RECEIVING the FACTS

3)   Compliment at minimum 3 people in 3 venues – 1 in the community, 1 at home or work, and 1 to YOURSELF (will revisit 5 Vital Venues concept)

4)   Consciously take a complaint in your head – if one comes up – and turn it into a personal ACTION STEP

5)  Write some thoughts, read them over and just meditate on this process….

I’m trying to respond to folks at the event wall but let me tell you (!!) the comments are coming in fast and furious! You guys have to stop by and take in some of the wisdom and stories – you got drama, comedy, information…all so wonderful and REAL! 🙂
